Why Breuer's World Maps?
We are Rebecca and Hendrik Breuer – two professional graphic and communication designers from Wildeshausen (Lower Saxony, Germany) who have turned their passion for travel and design into their own world map workshop. With over 25 years of professional experience in a medium-sized communication and branding agency, we help companies every day to become more visible and sharpen their visual presence. This expertise flows directly into every world map and country map we create.
The idea for our own world map workshop arose from a simple frustration: after countless trips over the past 20 years, we were looking for a world map where we could mark visited countries and note future travel destinations. Our requirement: it should look good, be of high quality, and suit us.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t find a world map we liked. Most world maps on the market are either very colorful, overloaded with too many details, or not convincing in quality. So we simply got to work ourselves: in over 200 hours of work, we developed our first own world map step by step – and quickly realized that we couldn’t be the only ones looking for exactly that. An idea was born!
Today, all our world and country maps are created according to the same principle: as minimalist as possible, as detailed as necessary. Clear lines, balanced colors, modern typography – Breuer’s world maps reduce everything to the essentials without sacrificing crucial details. Every product is developed with passion and made in Germany, using only high-quality materials from leading manufacturers – and with the best possible focus on sustainability.
In short: behind Breuer’s world maps is no big corporation – but a small team of people who have turned their passion into their profession. With this concept, we now inspire thousands of customers across Europe – and look forward to inspiring you too.
1. Unique Design
A world map hanging on the wall should definitely do one thing: captivate at first glance. That is exactly our goal – and the standard for every map we design.
As graphic designers with over 25 years of experience – and as people who travel the world a lot ourselves – we know exactly what a good map must deliver. Our concept: a clean, minimalist design. We consistently reduce to the essentials without sacrificing crucial details. Clear lines, balanced colors, and modern typography ensure that your marked places immediately catch the eye – making your map a real eye-catcher.
Each map is created by hand on a graphic tablet; it does not come from any “ready-made data drawer.” Based on geo-data and thorough research, we check every single marking before placing it on the map. We make sure no spelling mistakes slip in. And of course, we keep our map material up to date through regular updates.
Before we add a map to our portfolio, it undergoes extensive test prints – so that in the end, everything is truly perfect. On average, 200–300 working hours go into a single map family. You can see it. You can feel it. And that’s exactly what makes the difference.
2. Wide Range of Configurations
We don’t offer off-the-shelf products – instead, we leave it up to you to decide how your world map or map should be designed. That’s why we offer not only a wide selection of colors and formats but also options for the map’s material. Additionally, we provide many personalization possibilities. This enormous attention to detail and variety makes our maps unique pieces you won’t find anywhere else.
3. High Product Quality
Good design deserves high-quality materials. That’s why we use only materials from leading brand manufacturers in our products: cotton canvases from SIHL®, pin-backboards from PALBOARD®, composite panels from DIBOND®, or premium papers from HAHNEMÜHLE®.
All our world maps and maps are printed using fine art printing – a printing process regarded in the art world as the gold standard for high-quality reproductions and used by very few providers. Finest lines remain razor-sharp, smallest place names are crisply readable, color gradients appear soft and natural – without grain, without blur, without compromise.
In everything we do, we think about the environment. We use water-based pigment inks – UV-resistant, odorless, and durable. We use FSC-certified wood from forest stocks in Germany. And we ensure that our packaging material is 99% recyclable.
Our products are 100% handmade – Made in Germany.
Breuer's world maps are for everyone who loves to travel – but they fit into many more life situations than you might initially think:
- Globetrotters & Frequent Travelers who want to mark the countries and places they have visited with pins and make their travel history visible.
- Home Decor Enthusiasts looking for high-quality, minimalist, professionally designed wall decoration – without kitschy compromises.
- Gift Givers seeking a special, personal gift: for birthdays, weddings, housewarmings, or Christmas – optionally personalized with a name.
- Dreamers & Planners who want to visualize their bucket list and find daily inspiration.
- Businesses & Offices that want to give their workspaces a stylish, modern character or mark the locations of their headquarters or their clients’ offices. Of course, optionally printed with their logo!
In short: If you appreciate high quality, value clear design, and love to travel – a Breuer's world map is just right for you.
Products
All Breuer's maps are produced using fine art printing (Giclée process) – a printing method regarded in the art world as the gold standard for high-quality reproductions, mastered and used by very few providers.
What’s behind it?
With the Giclée process, the map is printed on canvas at a resolution of 2,400 dpi – many times higher than conventional digital printing methods. The result: the finest lines remain razor-sharp, the smallest place names are crisply legible, and color gradients appear soft and natural – without graininess, blurriness, or compromise.
Additionally, we use exclusively water-based pigment inks – UV-resistant, odorless, and durable. No cheap colors that fade after a few years. Your map will look just as vibrant in ten years as it does on day one.
What this means for you:
Whether you admire the map from two meters away or stand right in front of it reading the city names of your favorite travel destinations – the quality impresses at every level. A good design deserves equally good production quality – that’s why we use a printing process that leaves nothing to be desired.
Our Push Pin Maps are made on a 390 g/m² heavy gallery canvas made of 100% cotton – produced by SIHL®, one of the leading brand manufacturers of professional printing media.
At first, this may sound like a technical detail – but it is a crucial quality difference. Many inexpensive canvases on the market are made of polyester or polyester blends. The problem: polyester canvases can emit unpleasant odors after printing.
Our cotton canvas from SIHL® does not do this. It is odorless, has a distinct, natural fabric texture with a matte surface – and behaves completely differently when pinning: cotton fibers open when pierced and almost completely close again after a pin is removed. Hardly visible holes, no fraying – an advantage polyester simply cannot offer.
Then there is the weight: at 390 g/m², the canvas is significantly heavier and more robust than common alternatives – ensuring a tight, even tension on the stretcher frame and a stability you can see and feel.
The difference lies in the depth of the stretcher frame – and thus in appearance, impact, and stability:
Slim-Line (2 cm)
The slimmer frame sits flat against the wall and creates a subtle, fine shadow. Ideal if you don’t want the map to stand out too much in your interior.
Gallery-Line (4 cm)
The deeper frame gives the Push Pin Map a striking gallery look with a strong shadow – like those seen in museums and high-end exhibition spaces. It appears more elegant and three-dimensional. Additionally, it offers more stability, which is especially recommended for large sizes from 160 cm onward.
Our recommendation:
For smaller sizes (up to 140 x 90 cm), both options work wonderfully – it’s purely a matter of taste. For large sizes from 160 x 100 cm, we recommend the Gallery-Line, as the wider frame provides the canvas with extra support and stability.
With the “Push Pin Canvas LITE”, we do not use a back panel made of lightweight foam or cork. The canvas is so thick that pins hold directly in the canvas. When a pin is inserted, it wobbles a little at first, but then stays where it should.
With the “Push Pin Canvas PLUS”, we also insert a 5 mm thick PALBOARD® rigid foam board into the stretcher frame. This material is of higher quality, lighter and, above all, more break-proof than cork. This ensures maximum stability when pinning! The four corners of the board are beveled so that you have easy access to the small wedges and can tighten the stretcher frame if necessary. There are also two small recesses on the top of the board so that you can hang the stretcher frame on two steel nails.
It's not just in the design that we do without anything unnecessary: the pin canvas can be hung directly with the stretcher frame on two steel nails without any problems.
Our magnetic posters are the simplest and most cost-effective solution for marking travel destinations with magnets. However, the magnetic adhesion of magnetic posters is significantly lower than that of our magnetic board: Only small, light magnets adhere, not travel magnets!
Our magnetic board, on the other hand, is a very high-quality and above all robust solution: We stick a high-resolution printed ferrous foil onto an aluminum composite panel. This ferrous foil has such a strong magnetic adhesion that kitchen magnets or travel magnets stick to it. As a hanging solution, we offer either aluminum sheets - or, if you want it to be really chic, a gallery suspension. This gives the magnetic board a floating appearance and makes the magnetic board look even more sophisticated than it already is.
Please note: Magnets require a minimum distance from each other so that they do not attract or repel each other due to their polarity. The larger the magnet, the greater the distance between the magnets must be. We recommend the small magnetic pins from our accessories - they allow a relatively high density of location markers (approx. 18 mm apart).
Sustainability is also important to us: the printing is done with GREENGUARD GOLD certified water-based inks. These are odorless and therefore also suitable for children's rooms.
The stretcher frame is made from sustainable spruce wood from Germany - FSC certified.
And the packaging is 99% recyclable.
The substrate should be dry, clean, smooth and absorbent.
Our non-woven photo wallpapers can usually be easily removed when dry. The wall will not be damaged.
Walls and ceilings are never completely straight. Therefore, the wallpaper must always be slightly longer and wider than the clear wall dimension. The protruding remains are simply cut off after assembly.
The wallpaper is custom-printed according to your order as an individual custom-made product. That's why you can't reorder any lengths later, but have to reorder the entire wallpaper in a new order.
Personalizations
You can choose from a variety of motifs or logos to personalize our cards. You can not only specify the name (line 1), but also determine the sub-line (line 2). With some themes you can even define text for a legend .
This is how it works: Before ordering, simply select the desired personalization from the menu (the product images explain the variants very well), enter the name in text field no. 1 and the subline in text field no. 2. Then add it to the shopping cart - and that's all.
When personalizing, you can also select or deselect a quote and freely define it (only applies to world maps).
The text length per line should not exceed approx. 25 characters!
Apostrophe yes or no? There are two orthographic options:
The correct spelling is without an apostrophe, i.e. "Tom & Emma's World Travel Map".
However, according to Duden, it is also correct to use an apostrophe to emphasize the name more. That's why we chose the spelling "Tom & Emma's World Travel Map".
If you don't use an apostrophe in your specification: We'll add the apostrophe after the name ("Tom & Emma's").
However, if you insist, we will of course omit the apostrophe!
Yes, you can replace the Bourdain quote with another quote of your choice. To replace the quote, please choose one of the personalization options. And enter the desired text in the text field provided.
If your specifications are not very specific: Before the start of production, we will send you a proof by email. So nothing can go wrong!
We would be happy to print a company logo on the card. For this individual implementation, we only charge a small surcharge for data transfer, preparation of the print data and coordination, depending on the type and effort. Please send us an inquiry via email and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
The color combinations of our card material have been carefully selected and proofed in a lengthy process (coordinated in several proof samples). A color change requires a new check of the colors, which would result in a very time-consuming and costly process.
In principle, a color change is possible. We would be happy to make you an offer. Please send us an inquiry via email and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Shipping
All maps are not in stock, but are made to order just for you. Therefore we have a delivery time of 6 to 8 working days (Germany).
We usually always have accessories such as pins or magnetic pins in stock and ship them within 1 to 2 working days.
In Germany, all items are shipped free of charge. Shipping costs only apply to delivery addresses outside of Germany. The exact shipping costs can be found in our shipping conditions .
Deliveries to non-EU countries are unfortunately very expensive due to the high packing dimensions. We therefore recommend that the delivery be made to a German address. Companies like MeinEinkauf.ch and similar offer attractive options for transporting goods from Germany to Switzerland.
Since the maps are produced individually for you, our production and delivery times are slightly longer than usual. You can find out the respective delivery times directly on the product detail page or in our shipping guidelines.
On request and for an additional charge of 25.00 euros, we offer express production (see next section).
The specified shipping time is a guideline. In individual cases, delays may occur over which we have no influence.
We process our customers' orders chronologically in fixed production processes. With the "Express" option, we offer customers the opportunity to prioritize their order, i.e. the order is removed from the usual production processes and handled separately. For us, this means a change in processes and ultimately additional work. We therefore charge an additional 25.00 euros gross for this express option.
"Express" does not mean that we ship faster. Because 90% of all orders are sent overnight anyway.
Products with a pack size of up to 120 cm long and 60 cm wide (corresponds only to canvases in the format 80 x 60 cm) are shipped with DHL.
Products with a larger pack size (corresponds to canvases from 100 cm wide) are shipped with GoExpress.
Delivery by Go! Express is always on weekdays between 08:00 and 13:00.
If an afternoon delivery is desired, there will be an additional cost of 10.00 euros.
DHL usually leaves a message so that you can pick up the goods at the nearest post office as usual.
Deliveries of goods with a side length of 100 cm or more are sent with the GoExpress shipping company. Every delivery is a special delivery to your address. If the first delivery attempt is not successful, you then have the option of arranging a second delivery date by telephone.
For organizational and production-related reasons, it is not possible to arrange a preferred delivery date (see the following point in the FAQ).
We are a very small company with fixed production processes. Orders are processed chronologically and dispatched immediately after completion.
Taking desired deadlines into account means that these production processes cannot be adhered to and have to be changed. Past experience has shown that such interventions in processes sooner or later lead to errors and thus to customer dissatisfaction.
In addition, we do not have the storage facilities to put finished products on hold and to store and retrieve them at short notice.
For these reasons, we no longer offer requested delivery dates.
No. The formats of our world maps are not suitable for packing stations.
Delivery to a non-EU country is made according to the Incoterm DAP (Delivered At Place). Therefore, our prices do not include customs duties, import charges, or foreign taxes that may be incurred when delivering to a non-EU country. These costs must be paid by the customer directly to the responsible customs or tax authorities there, or to the logistics company. We recommend inquiring about the details from the customs or tax authorities before placing an order.
Return & Complaint
Each of our products is made individually for you only after your order. This means: We do not produce in advance, but according to orders – with great care and by hand. Therefore, there is no legal right of withdrawal for these products.
Nevertheless, we offer: For non-personalized items (standard configuration, card language German) as well as items that are not marked as “custom-made”, we voluntarily grant you a 14-day right of withdrawal.
Please note that in the case of a return, the shipping costs are borne by the buyer.
Customized products, products outside the standard configuration, or in a card language other than German, as well as products expressly marked as "special order," cannot be resold by us or only with great difficulty. Therefore, there is no statutory right of withdrawal for these products.
You can return your ordered, non-personalized items to us within 14 days after receiving the shipment. Please ensure that the goods are packed securely to prevent shocks and scratches. It is best to use the original packaging.
Your refund will be processed within 2-3 business days after we receive the returned item. The refund will be made via the original payment method. Refunds to another means of payment are not possible.
Please note that, depending on the payment method you have chosen, it may take a little while for you to see that your payment has been received.
Our forwarding agency works very conscientiously. Nevertheless, damage to the goods during transport can never be completely ruled out. If the goods arrive damaged, please send us 2-3 photos of the goods and the packaging.
If the complaint is justified, we will provide a replacement as soon as possible.
Please understand that we can only intervene to regulate complaints if the damage report is submitted within 3 days of acceptance of the shipment .
Our quality management ensures that the goods are shipped in perfect condition. Nevertheless, mistakes can still happen. If the print is blurred and we have not noticed this before dispatch, please send us 2-3 photos to prove it and if the complaint is justified, we will provide a replacement immediately.
Please note: The canvases (cotton blend fabric) are printed on the basis of razor-sharp data with a resolution of 2,400 dpi. As the printed material has a naturally uneven surface, there may be slight optical blurring within the tolerance range depending on the viewing angle of the canvas. This does not constitute a defect and does not justify a complaint.
Tensioning & Care Instructions
You have just received your new canvas and it has creases or the canvas itself is no longer quite tight? No need to worry - this is not damage or a defect:
Our canvases are fully-fledged, professional gallery canvases made from 100% natural materials. The special thing about them is that the canvas fabrics are not simply stapled to the wooden frame, as is the case with standard frames or cheap products. Instead, small wooden wedges stuck into the back of the stretcher frame ensure that the canvas is properly stretched and can be stretched again and again (after all, the material works over time). During production, we make sure that these wedges are firmly stuck in the stretcher frame and that the canvas is stretched as tightly as possible.
During shipping, however, the package is inevitably exposed to shocks and leverage. Despite good packaging, these external influences can cause the wedges to slip a little - and the canvas to lose tension. The result: creases in the canvas!
Solution: To smooth out these creases again, the wooden wedges simply need to be hammered a little deeper into the frame. This pushes the wooden slats of the stretcher frame further apart and the canvas becomes tighter.
To do this, proceed as follows:
- Carefully place the stretcher frame on the picture surface (preferably on a blanket so that the printed image is not damaged).
- Carefully (!) drive the wooden wedges deeper into the corners with a small hammer (1-2 millimeters is enough in most cases, never all the way!).
- Done! After 1-2 days, the creases should be smoothed out; if this is not the case, please drive the wedges in a little deeper.
A little tip: Have you re-stretched the canvas but it is not yet sitting really tightly on the stretcher frame? Then moisten the canvas evenly from the back with a natural sponge after re-stretching (never from the front so as not to damage the printed image). Wait until the canvas is dry again. Only insert the wedges deeper into the wooden strips once it is dry.
Every tree is unique and wood is a timeless natural product that is influenced by basic physical laws such as temperature and humidity. However, this natural and rustic character, which is what makes wood so appealing, also imposes certain restrictions on the nature of the products, which must be consciously accepted. Despite the most careful selection of materials and the most modern production methods, the special features of wood that can be observed time and again in practice must be accepted. These characteristics cannot be influenced by the material wood and cannot be claimed.
In concrete terms, this means that the canvas can stretch over time due to fluctuating temperatures and humidity, leading to warping of the wooden frame. Such cases are expressly not grounds for complaint.
We value sustainability and naturalness in our products. Our canvas is made of 100% cotton and is printed with UV-resistant, water-based ink. We do not use a chemical varnish to seal the canvas in order to maintain the naturalness of the material.
With this in mind, the canvas must be treated with care. Dark surfaces in particular are sensitive to fingerprints – which is why we recommend not wiping the canvas by hand or touching it with greasy fingers.
We also advise caution when unpacking: When lifting the canvas out of the box, please ensure that the canvas does not scratch along the edges of the box. This will inevitably lead to scratches and color abrasions.
Scratches on the edges of the canvas, smudges or fingerprints are not grounds for complaint!
As with shirts or cloths, a cotton canvas can also have tiny knots in the material. Such small knots arise from thickening of individual cotton fibers, overlapping threads, or natural irregularities in the yarn. They are a known, unavoidable feature of untreated cotton fabrics – comparable to a knot in wood. The more "genuine" and less synthetically refined the material is, the more likely such spots can occur.
Our canvas is made of 100% cotton and is printed with environmentally friendly, water-soluble inks in the interests of sustainability - which are odor-free. Simply clean the canvas with a soft, dry cloth without applying too much pressure. Never wet clean, as this would damage the printed image and smudge the color.
